The Kern County Builder's Exchange
The Kern County Builders' Exchange, Inc. was established in 1929 and is one of 29 Exchanges' operating in California. We are a non-profit organization of general contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, manufacturers, suppliers and other closely related to the construction industry. The Builders' Exchange currently operates with a staff of four. Executive Director Roy Alvarez, Office Administrator Kimberly Kelley, Plan Room Administrator Linda Barnes, Office Associate Magdalena Pruneda along with our Kern County Builders' Exchange Board of Directors.
As a non-profit organization we are governed by a Board of Directors which currently consists of 26 professionals in the construction industry. Our 2010 Officers and Directors are listed under "Staff" on our website www.kcbex.com.
We purchased the building at 1121 Baker Street, where we have been located since 1986. Our location makes us part of Old Town Kern. We enjoy being an integral part of such a historic area in Bakersfield.
Our function is to provide our members assistance during the pre-bid process. Our primary focus is the commercial and public works side of the construction industry. Our 24/7 online plan room provides members the best and most complete opportunities to bid competitively.In addition to these services we plan various events throughout the year such as The Lamb Fry, Golf Tournament, Annual Barbecue, Safety Expo, October and November Membership Meetings.
The Kern County Builders’ Exchange also offers our members one of the largest Workers Compensation Insurance Group Programs in California. As a result our group enjoys benefits that directly affect the cost of operation of your business. These benefits are only provided through membership. The savings you may experience in this group program are unlimited and cost effective.
